Remove Moisture With Whole House Dehumidifiers

One of the problems that exist in many homes that can gradually develop into a health risk is the presence of excess humidity. The moist air can be caused as a result of a number of different possibilities but when it is always present in the house the result can be the growth of mould.

The answer may be to install a whole house dehumidifier into the home and operate it as a matter of course throughout the day. Whole house dehumidifiers have a few advantages over buying a smaller portable dehumidifier because they can be centrally located in a place that is out of the way of the rest of the house. They can be placed in the basement, for example, so that the operation is not noticed.

These humidifiers can be preset so that they will automatically activate whenever sensors detect that humidity levels have risen. When the humidity reaches a certain point in certain areas of the home the dehumidifier can operate to lower them back down to appropriate levels.

These dehumidifiers are designed to operate for long periods of time and as a result they are energy efficient units, more so than the portable dehumidifiers. They can be integrated into the air conditioning system giving you the option of running the two units in conjunction with one another.

As with most appliances there are also some disadvantages related to a whole house dehumidifier. The up-front costs are much higher than you would be facing if you were going to buy a portable dehumidifier. This stands to reason seeing as the whole house unit is a more powerful unit. The installation is not a straightforward job and will require the services of a professional contractor

When it comes down to it, the end result should be a house that is a lot more healthy with no unnecessary moisture causing unsavoury smells and unhealthy mold and mildew growth.
