There are many more people enjoying the sport of snowboarding these days, which has meant that there are a lot of shoppers looking for quality clothing to wear. Naturally you need the standard equipment, such as cheap snowboard goggles, hats, gloves and good quality boots, as well as snowboard jackets. There is quite a bit of variety when it comes to buying jackets, and prices range quite a lot as well.

When looking for jackets there are a few things to keep in mind. Naturally they do need to be warm as it can be quite cold when on the snow, and they also need to be waterproof. There are some jackets that have radial sleeves. These are great because they allow for free, large movements which is a plus. The addition of underarm zipper vents is also great if you are able to find jackets with them.  Sleeves should have elastic at the end so they stay snug against your wrist.  You will also want to ensure that the seams are all lined so that water does not seep in, and that zippers are covered. The addition of large sized pockets with zippers is a bonus, as that way you can keep your wallet or other essentials with you all the time.

Several brand-names make top quality jackets. These are made by Volcom, Burton and several other sportswear manufacturers. If you are looking for something that is good quality yet not highly priced you may want to check out the jackets made by Colombia and Foursquare. Other brands have cheaper jackets available, many of which are also very good quality. For top quality, expect to pay anywhere up to around $500, with the cheapest usually costing around $150.

While you can buy them online, they are also readily available at most sporting goods stores.  Just remember, when buying them, that they need to be both functional and priced within your budget.
